OUR HOME -- What's New?

As many of you know, Todd and I moved into our new home in January. We love it so much! It is nice to have a place to call our own. Almost unfortunately... it comes in a package with many things that need fixed up or that are not to your liking. For instance, our bedroom is "old lady" purple and lavender with flowered wall paper.... definitely not my first choice! I am still picturing the right colors to paint it. But trust me, it won't be long before I do.

Todd and I have been picking out new things to go in our home: decorations & furniture. We have also been working extra hard lately on getting our yard fixed up and looking just the way we want it.

One thing that I have done (with Todd's help) to make our home more of our own is, I painted a big white "W" that we now have hanging above our front door to let everyone know that it is "The Wilkerson's Home".

One of the recent things that we both desperately wanted done was the dog pen. Our dogs can jump super high and well Junior just breaks any collar we have ever put on him. After countless mornings of waking up to dogs barking all around the neighborhood and finding out that it was our dog loose... or waking up to phone calls from Julie saying one of our dogs is in her yard.... we decided that's it!! Todd wanted to just use the dogs as target practice and well... I just made him build them a dog pen and this is how it turned out.Next, we wanted to fix up the back yard, after it had been pooped on by the dogs, branches torn down from the dogs, grass worn down from the dogs, and holes dug by the dogs... we decided it needed a little something extra to make it look nice until the grass grew in so we made our own little corner flower bed. It is still a little slow letting the flowers bloom and the seeds come up but in the end it will be beautiful! As for fixing up our front yard we have our beautiful crab apple tree, a "snowball" tree (or at least that is what it looks like), beautiful hanging baskets with red & white petunias, and a fountain!
We had this big sink hole in our front yard, and well even though the grass still grew in it, I hated it!!! So, after much thought, I talked to Todd about the idea of filling it in with bark wood chips and then putting in a fountain. To much of my surprise, Todd agreed! So here is the fountain I picked out!In our back yard we had this big, ugly dead rose bush! Or so we thought, it just recently started blooming and just keeps blooming! Todd went out the other day and trimmed off all of the dead branches and we decided that we think we are going to keep it! It is beautiful!Another sort of "new" thing is our extra garage. It has been there since we moved in but for a little while it served as Juniors dog pen since he broke every collar he ever had! So two days ago, Todd went and deep cleaned it sooooooo well!!! Now he can actually have a place to call his workshop. As for the INSIDE OF OUR HOME.... believe it or not, Todd FINALLY talked me into getting a big screen tv! Yep, last weekend we went over to vernal and came back with a 42 inch tv, and a bright smiling man!!! It was just as good as Christmas for him!!So I decided that since Todd got to pick out a big thing for us to have in our home, that supposedly both of us would use it "just the same amount," which is highly doubtful... I decided to pick something out that both of us really would use it "the same amount". I chose new couches for our living room! They are soooooooooooooo super comfy! And they make our living room look very classy!
Now all of you will have to come visit to see our beatiful home and see even more of the little things that we have fixed up!!!
